Dear Future Client: You Are Not Broken

A therapist’s love letter to the overwhelmed and exhausted.

To the one who is always holding it together, even when it’s falling apart inside—this is for you.

I see you.

You’re being responsible. You’re staying busy.

But… who is seeing you?

It might feel like your insides don’t matter.

But they do. They are just as—if not more—important than what others see.

How you feel matters.

How you see yourself matters.

Can you accept yourself for just one moment?

And then another?

And another?

Yes, progress is great. But so is filling in the middle—with your compassion, and with mine.

I know how exhausting it can feel to carry so much alone.

Have you stopped, even for a moment, to ask yourself why you feel you have to?

Can you imagine sharing just one small piece of that burden?

Not all of it—just one piece.

With me? With someone you trust?

It feels good to me to share what you’re carrying.

I’d feel honored to be in your trusted circle.

Let the bigger ease support you.

You don’t have to hold everything up by yourself.

You can soften. You can let go.

I became a therapist because I believe in the magic of connection.

Because it’s life-saving.

Because I value people.

Because I’m sensitive to the needs that often go unnamed.

Because I love naming what’s happening in this moment.

Because it feeds the part of me that once couldn’t support my family.

Because connection is the goal and the process.

Because I want to be on the good side.

Even the parts you’re most ashamed of…

The tired parts. The misunderstood, unwise, “too much” parts.

The parts shaped by diagnoses or survival.

They are still you.

They still deserve care.

You are not too much.

You are not broken.

You are learning to love yourself.

And you are emerging.

If I could only say one thing to you today:

Have compassion for your suffering.

That’s where healing begins.
